Working with teams in these situations, we find five common behaviours identified by Patrick Lencioni which are major obstacles to team success:
- Distrust of each other so they do not work together for the good of the team
- Fear of conflict, often resulting from distrust, leading to avoidance of issues and decision-making
- Lack of commitment because they do not feel their opinion has been considered
- Avoidance of personal and team accountability because they have not agreed to the team standards of operation
- Inattention to results because team members do not feel sufficiently engaged and committed to what the team is setting out to achieve
