IoTBuild Conference 2018
Neville Merritt was panel guest for the conference session discussing “Education in the workforce” chaired by Matt Hatton, VP Research, Gartner at the IoTBuild Conference on 13th November at Olympia, London. The conference was examining the technology and potential impact of the evolution of the connected world – the Internet of Things. One of the concerns is how will this affect the workplace – and the people whose jobs will inevitably be replaced. The panel discussed this from several points of view, but one thing was agreed: we have been through social changes in the workplace many times before. Each time technological advances have removed the need for certain roles, people have adapted. All things being equal, we have seen an increase in GDP, personal wealth and levels of employment through these changes so there is no reason to believe that the impact of another technology – the IOT – will be any different.
